How Avo got its name

Many years ago a man by the name of Danny Malan was enjoying a particularly tasty avo. As a matter of fact, he enjoyed the avocado so much, that he decided then and there that he was going to plant the seed. He felt that in doing this he would be able to enjoy the taste of that delicious avo for many years to come. Did you know that an avocado tree takes seven years to grow before bearing its first fruit? Danny planted and persevered with that tree even though he knew that it would be seven years before any worthwhile rewards could be reaped. Danny has moved on but his tree grows proud and strong at the focal point of our beautiful Avo conference venue, on the slopes of the Kensington ridge.

When we heard Danny’s story, we realised that his vision encapsulates the work we do: developing people is about planting trees in whose shade you may never sit, and whose fruit you may never eat. True inspiration comes from being able to see those first leaves unfurl, and to see the potential that waits in that moment. At Avo, we find no greater thrill!

Danny’s vision has inspired us, at Avocado Vision, to inspire you.

    How Avo’s got it’s name
Please read Helen Truss’ book “Eats shoots and leaves” and then decide whether you know when and when not to use an apostrophe.
If you are into communication, you should know that “it’s” is short for “it is” or “it has” etc. You don’t write “her’s” or “his’” when talking of possession. Nor should you write “it’s”.
So the heading should read “How … got its name”

Thanks Tim. I’m also a pernickety apostrophe police person, and it drives me insane when it’s not done properly! That book has been on my ‘to buy’ list for ever.

Thanks for the heads-up - How embarrassing that somebody actually caught me out! Heading corrected as instructed ;)

Hey, Mike - it must play havoc with your spellcheck, though…..
