Can you feel the love?…

So we’ve been doing some in-house training recently (in our very own special conference room with the breathtaking view, nogal).

It’s such a wonderful opportunity to have our own training guru’s sharing their amazing expertise with us… you just want to soak it all up!

We’ve been covering Personalities at the moment, which has many of us walking around referring to our ‘colours’, like;

“I’m blue, remember, I need more information…” or “I know I’m loud, but I’m y-e-l-l-o-w” (the ‘yellow’ normally being said with much chest puffing and emphasis, if not a grand ‘diva’ gesture…). Okay, I’m being stereotypical, but you gotta have some fun with it!

We’re doing a very interesting thing right now as part of that ongoing training.

I’m calling it the Admiration wall (Wall of admiration? Wall of fuzzy? Okay I’m undecided):

Each Avo has a page dedicated to them, up in the office, where all the other Avos have to write what it is they admire about you and why they like having you around.

Now, it’s possible that this could seem cliche, but I have to tell you that it sure makes you stand back and think.

Having to stand at that page and write something positive about each person, definitely makes you appreciate the people you’re working with - because (and I know I’m bragging a bit here) in this space, it’s not hard to think of the admirable qualities your fellow Avos have.

What’s also interesting is to see what other people have written about each other, and to see that each person is admired and appreciated in a different way by each Avo.

Needless to say the best part is getting to read your own and seeing what you bring to the table.

I think it’s a real eye opener and can’t wait until it’s finished so we can all glow for a while!

(P.S: Mine’s the one with the stars drawn on it, in green, in the top row…)

    My poor husband… conversation has become somewhat predictable since the personalities training we enjoyed. Watching movies… oh he is sooooo yellow. Having a typical matrimonial disagreement… you are sooo red. Asking for something…but I need to know ‘cos I am a blue!!!!

    That aside, what I have really appreciated in the interventions with Tracy and Grant, is that they provided, under circumstances that could very easily develop into mud slinging battles, a safe space to air our opinions and express our views. Dealing with the very complex issue of pesonality and the interactions between conflicting personalities could be quite explosive. Yet Grant and Tracy, with their indepth understanding of what makes us different, tease out of us our uniqueness, celebrate our differences and guide us to uncover how we can best deal with each other.
    Thank you Tracy and Grant. Thank you too to everyne who participated. It was so special being in an environment where you KNOW that you are really being heard.

    Can I just say “ditto, Jen”? I have also enjoyed the training and I think the “Wall of Affirmation” is such a good idea. (Do you like that name BTW?)

    I love the admiration wall maybe it is because I am a yellow at heart and I enjoy hearing people telling me how much they adore me. It has been so wonderful to have these sessions where we are all together. I think it has been a good bonding session for us and a valauble time to get to know each other better and learn how we all tick. This ‘Wall of Affirmation” is so powerful. We often forget what we bring to Avo cause we get so caught up in what we are working on, so this has made me step back and realise that we are all admired for being who we are and what we bring into this space. Thank you to Tracy and Grant for all they have taught me - it has been a truly amazing and meaningful journey for me and I have learnt so much about myself.
