The Replacement!
Published by Clayton July 7th, 2008 in GeneralKind of sounds like the title of a bad movie; it’s a good thing I’m not in the movie industry then.
Yep marketing, branding and IT together is my game. After I completed my Bachelors degree in Computer Science from UJ, I had a consuming urge to travel, so I packed my bags and jetted off to the Far East for two months. I travelled alone to Japan through China, down to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand with a stop-over in Dubai… Six countries in the two months, a different guest house in a different city every two days and more memorable experiences to bring home with me than I could have ever imagined.
After settling back into my life in South Africa, I was contacted by a friend of mine Raelene. She told me she was working at a company called Avocado Vision and one of their prize Avos was on her way out to taste new horizons, hence I was to be “the replacement” with big shoes to fill, at least that’s what everyone kept telling me.
I came in for my interview and just fell in love with the company; I loved everything it stood for, the people and their vision. I can’t believe I’ve only been here for a month, I feel so settled and comfortable like I’ve been here for years already. All I can say now is thank you Jules for taking me on board and thank you Avos for making me feel so at home. Looking forward to the future.

Welcome Clay!! Good to have you onboard..
Great to have you in the Avo space. Look forward to the gaucomole times ahead!
Hi Calyton, we are so glad to have you on board, especially cause you are male and have gorgeous blue eyes! No really you are already creating your own space at AVO and that is so awesome….
Hi Clayton, welcome to Avo. I am so proud of you, all I can say is that Avo is a nice place and you will never blame yourself about working in this space.
Yip! We are delighted to have you… and in a short month, you have already made magic! Which is something not everyone can do! Hats off to Rae for finding you, hats of to Jules for hiring you, hats off to Carin for wiring you… and all the best for a happy time at Avo! Welcome aboard… spiderman!
Hey dude, welcome to the AVO team! Looking forward to sharing tons of travel stories with you! Rock on, Van Halen!
Hey - Welcome to Avo! It really is great having you work with us. While I was overseas, I was so worried when I heard there was a ‘replacement’, but you have slotted into our space so well. It is wonderful having such a kind spirit around us. I am sure you will be very happy here.
You SEE… at least I left you okes in safe, testosterone-filled-boy hands…
xxx
Hey, Carin! Nice of you to pop in to the blogsite! You checking on whether the “substitute” is doing his job…?
He’s a nice boy, we like him. Thank-you for showing him the ropes so nicely and making him feel at home. Not sure he can compete with Jules or Becky or even me on the testosterone front, ‘though! Welcome, Clayton. At least you are a “hip” replacement!
Hey Clayton! It is great to have you. We have been begging for more boys for quite sometime. And look what we got - not only a boy, but one who is extremely talented and nice to look at too! Agreed - there is a wee bit of female testosterone hanging about, but I am sure you can handle us!
Welcome onboard Clayton, wishing you much joy and happiness
Clay, I already think you’re fantastic! Welcome aboard!
Hey Clayton
Welcome to the team. Looking forward to sharing the Avo space with you Man.
It unbelievable just how excited the chicks are to have you around!
At least Tshepo has another male around him now. Surely he is more excited then all the girls combined?
You’ll have a great time at Avo Clayton!
Hey, Bilaal - do I detect a little whiff of jealousy there…..?
