Steer the hope ship in the right direction
Published by Clayton May 13th, 2009 in General, Avo in the media
After the sadness of our previous blog, I thought that this was an appropriate title for Jules’ new article that appeared in the Star Workplace this Monday. Although Jules’ article is about hope in this new economy; it can easily be turned around to inspire hope in all of us, no matter what the situation.

I got a sneak preview at the photocopier the other day. I so agree with what you have to say Jules, and you are so good at holding the energy for AVO! I think the beauty at AVO is that we all play a vital role in steering our ship! Lets keep the hope alive in each other!
Thanks for inspiring us Jules. Times are tough but we are very blessed to have someone who truly believes that each one of us has the potential to succeed.
If there is a leader who knows how to inspire hope, it is you Boss Chick, Jules Newton. This article resonates with my experience of you as captian of a ship in extremely stormy seas. Your ability to make us believe that there is ‘LAND’ , when all we can see are waves towering over our vessel, is legendary. Avo has survived storms in the past and now we are ready to trust, hope and work hard to make sure that we all contribute to our surival and thrival. You really have earned your stripes captain… thank you.
Hey Jules.
Jeez - how do I top that comment Tracy! Well put as usual. After just spending two days with managers and supervisors at a logistics company, this article really strikes a cord. In amongst guiding and leading teams to meet performance targets as they have always had to do, there is another complexity about leading in the current economic conditions - keeping ourselves focused, positive, and resilient - and then helping our teams to do the same.
Jules - thanks for the positive message and helping to bring one of our responsibilities as managers and leaders to ’steer the hope ship,’ top of mind.
